Our client in the FMCG and Hospitality industry in Kenya is seeking a Tax Accountant to lead the implementation of tax strategy, focusing on planning, compliance, and risk management. This role ensures timely filing of tax returns, reviews complex income tax submissions, and optimizes tax efficiency for international payments. The position requires aligning tax processes with group guidelines and maintaining compliance with local tax laws.

Responsibilities

  • Tax Strategy: Manage the implementation of the Company’s strategy from a planning, compliance, and risk management perspective, to ensure harmonization of the tax processes with the group Tax guidelines.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure correct and timely filing of all Tax Returns based on country specific tax calendars and review complex income Tax Returns, in order to meet regulatory deadlines and avoid penalties.
  • Corporation: Maintain good corporation with tax authorities and avoid putting the company in bad standing with authorities.
  • Tax Education: Ensure all the stakeholders are well educated on new emerging tax laws and not limited to Tax seminars and consultants.
  • Tax Document Management: Ensure all documents processed are compliant with tax procedures and they are properly filed in order to substantiate tax filings and tax positions and to support during tax audits.
  • Business Community: Build relationships and interact with stakeholders to provide excellent tax advisory expertise on business transactions and acquisitions, in order to ensure smooth functioning of the tax record to report processes including helping to facilitate closure of tax audits.
  • Tax Planning: Identify tax planning opportunities within the limits of tax risk management, to generate cash for the group
  • Tax Risk Management: Identify and mitigate tax risks in order to ensure that the tax positions which are taken are in compliance with the tax regulations and also to avoid penalties for potential exposures.
  • Tax Accounting: Manage the tax provision process and supervise tax balances on general ledger, in order to record correct tax provisions and harmonize the tax accounting process across the group.
  • Tax Audits: Manage tax audits in collaboration with Group Tax, in order to reach an amicable closure to the Audits
  • Transfer Pricing: Ensuring that the Company adheres to the Transfer Pricing Regulations in all geographies where the group operates and ensure proper transfer pricing documentation is maintained, in order to comply with the Transfer Pricing guidelines.

Qualifications

  • CPA K / ACCA finalist
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field
  • At least 4 years relevant experience in a similar organization or busy function
  • Up to date with current and emerging tax procedures
  • Well acquainted MS Excel technics.
  • Must be familiar with filing taxes.
