To create an ultimate shopping experience through effective leadership and execution of various Sales and Merchandising functions within the store.
To maximise profitability by understanding the relevant target markets and leading teams to drive a customer centric environment.
To initiate and execute various strategies to improve store performance and enhance team productivity.
1. Customer Experience
To demonstrate and ensure all associates project a positive attitude to customers by serving customers promptly, efficiently and in a courteous manner (Greet, Thank, Help).
To enhance a customer experience by recognizing and resolving conflict promptly, i.e. customer queries or complaints.
To embrace and enforce the “sunset rule” todays work today.
To ensure that teams understand and execute the various customer experience initiatives as per company requirement.
To develop and implement the action plans derived from the customer experience reports.
To ensure that all associates are attired as per company standards.
To ensure associates within his/her control have the required skills and product knowledge to provide excellent levels of customer service.
To ensure associates build a relationship with and delivers service to customers with a specific focus on fulfilling customer needs.
To ensure optimum service levels in areas of responsibility.
2. Inventory Management
To liaise and follow up with the category team with specific focus on stock levels and stock turn.
To monitor and ensure the timeous processing of repairs and returns.
To ensure regular follow-ups are conducted with suppliers, i.e. repairs, returns, special promotions etc.
To ensure that core stock and promotional lines are maintained as per the required standard.
To monitor stock replenishment and integrity via the gap scanning process.
To analyse all SAP CAR reports and initiate strategies to improve store performance.
To ensure that aged /obsolescence stock is actioned as per company procedure.
3. Merchandise and Marketing
To ensure that signage standards are implemented in accordance with the Signage Manual.
To ensure that all store displays are updated as per company standards.
To ensure that visual displays are updated to incorporate and promote new product launches, locally relevant events, festive and seasonal themes as per creative guidelines.
To ensure that collaboration is initiated between the distribution and merchandise teams, i.e. replenishment of stock from the distribution areas to the sales floor.
To ensure stock is displayed as per merchandising standards, i.e. correct PI Labels, bar codes and price, SSDMA check on all advertised lines.
To ensure that the latest version of space planning is implemented and “out of stocks” are updated
through gap scanning.
4. Stock Loss
To adhere to all policies and procedures, thus minimising stock loss.
To ensure that all merchandise is secured as per relevant security measures.
To ensure that stock integrity and high risk policy and procedures are maintained.
To scrutinize the high risk schedules and escalate discrepancies.
To implement, execute and maintain stock take post mortem action plans.
To manage the execution of adhoc modular counts as per company requirement.
5. Expenses
To ensure all expenses are in line with the budget, i.e. scheduling, overtime, auction costs, stationery, electricity etc.
To ensure the effective management of TK records, i.e. schedules, leave types, clockings and audit trails etc.
To ensure that the write off process with regards to mark down and swell allowances are actioned as per company procedure.
To ensure that auction costs are effectively managed as per company procedure.
6. Sales
To ensure that the daily sales targets are communicated to associates.
To create an awareness on a daily basis on sales performance to positively impact the weekly target.
To address Floor Managers performance weekly, by utilizing the weekly sales performance report.
To support, coach and motivate direct reports to exceed the set budgeted sales targets.
To follow up on call back vouchers on a daily basis.
To plan and co-ordinate in-store promotional activities.
To analysis market trends and the social environmental impact to sales.
7. Leadership
To continuously enhance existing capabilities and develop new skills.
To ensure that all associates are regularly trained in order to achieve the required standard.
To coach and develop team in order to achieve the required store standards in relevant areas.
To ensure that the Individual development training pack (IDTP) is completed for his/her team and regular one on one conversations are conducted.
To ensure that the performance improvement process (PIP) is adhered to.
To ensure all new associates are on boarded as per company requirements.
To have a thorough understanding of the IR processes in order to carry out disciplinary investigations and hearings where appropriate.
To participate in the recruitment and selection process of associates.
To initiate and facilitate the collaboration between the various teams.
To act in line with the dominant values of the organization, i.e. act with integrity, service to our customers, strive for excellence and respect for the individual.
To achieve a win-win outcome when there are conflicting interests and limited resources.
8. General
To ensure the development and implementation of daily work plans.
To ensure that all compliance areas are maintained according to business requirement, i.e OHASA, stock loss and Massmart audits etc.
To ensure optimum service levels in areas of responsibility. i.e scheduling according to peaks and valleys.
To ensure the overall maintenance and housekeeping standards are diligently adhered to, i.e. company assets, walls, ceiling, air-conditioning, fixtures, stockrooms.
To acknowledge and action the Store Operations communication.
To ensure that Management By Walk About (MBWA) is conducted.
To be supportive, flexible and assist, as and when, required to perform duties that do not fall in this position.
