Our client in Zimbabwe is looking for a meticulous and mature Group SBU Gold Elution Expert to join their team for a job vacancy within
the Mining Industry.
The Group SBU Elution Expert is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the elution process across the company’s multiple gold processing operations. This role involves managing the gold elution and carbon reactivation processes, ensuring minimal gold loss, and driving efficiency improvements across all elution systems in the company’s three operational locations. The Group SBU Elution Expert will report directly to the Group Processing Executive and will collaborate with the Metallurgy (CIL), TSF, and Carbon Management SBUs to ensure integrated performance across the value chain.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Standardizing the elution process across all locations.
- Providing technical guidance and support to local elution teams.
- Continuous monitoring and auditing of elution systems to ensure performance consistency and adherence to best practices.
- Managing the carbon regeneration process to minimize losses and improve carbon reactivation performance.
- Reporting elution performance metrics to the Group Processing Executive.
- Lead the optimization of elution processes across all sites to ensure efficient recovery of gold from loaded carbon.
- Evaluate and implement process control strategies to improve elution efficiency and minimize operational downtime.
- Ensure that all elution equipment is maintained and operated in line with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
- Oversee the carbon reactivation process, ensuring that reactivated carbon is of optimal quality for reuse in the CIL process.
- Collaborate with the Carbon Management SBU to ensure seamless flow of carbon between the CIL and Elution units.
- Conduct regular audits of elution systems at all operational locations to ensure consistent performance and adherence to best practices.
- Analyse performance data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Provide detailed performance reports to the Group Processing Executive, highlighting key metrics and areas requiring attention.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations pertaining to the elution and carbon reactivation processes.
- Lead safety initiatives related to chemical handling, carbon regeneration, and thermal processes used in elution.
- Provide technical support and leadership to elution teams at each processing location.
- Work closely with Metallurgy (CIL), TSF, and Carbon Management SBUs to ensure integrated and efficient operation of the value chain.
- Mentor and guide local elution teams to implement best practices and enhance their operational capabilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Gold recovery rate during the elution process.
- Efficiency of the carbon reactivation process.
- Downtime or interruptions in the elution process.
- Reduction in reagent (acid, water, etc.) and energy consumption during elution.
- Achievement of elution throughput targets at all sites.
- Compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Reduction in carbon loss during reactivation.
- Consistency in elution performance across all processing sites.
Key Result Areas (KRAs):
- Gold Recovery Optimization: Achieving maximum gold recovery through efficient elution processes.
- Process Efficiency: Ensuring that the elution and carbon reactivation processes operate with minimal energy, reagent, and carbon loss.
- Consistency Across Sites: Maintaining consistent elution performance and practices across all operational locations.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensuring all elution processes meet environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Leading process optimisation and introducing innovations that enhance overall elution performance.
- Cost Containment: Efficiently managing the costs associated with the elution process, including reagents, energy, and carbon losses.
- Leadership: Providing leadership and technical support to local site elution teams, fostering an environment of operational excellence.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in gold processing dealing with Elution.
- Strong understanding of elution process.
- Knowledge of carbon regeneration and reactivation.
- Proficiency in data analysis and process control.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to lead a team
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to environmental protection
