Our Client operating in Kitwe and Kalumbila is looking for a Rigger to join their team for a job vacancy within the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities:
- Rigging and Lifting Operations:
- Set up rigging equipment, including pulleys, cranes, winches, and cables, to lift, move, and position heavy machinery and materials.
- Ensure that loads are safely secured and that rigging equipment is properly configured for each lifting task.
- Inspection of Rigging Equipment:
- Conduct pre-use inspections of rigging equipment, including slings, hooks, and chains, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Identify wear or damage to rigging gear and arrange for necessary repairs or replacements.
- Load Handling and Safety:
- Calculate and determine load capacities and dimensions to safely lift and transport materials and equipment within the mine.
- Work with crane operators and other team members to coordinate safe lifting operations, following safety protocols and procedures.
- Heavy Equipment Support:
- Assist in the installation, assembly, and dismantling of heavy equipment such as crushers, conveyors, and earth-moving machines.
- Collaborate with mechanics and engineers to move machinery into position for repairs or maintenance.
- Compliance with Safety Regulations:
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to prevent accidents and injuries during rigging and lifting tasks.
- Ensure all rigging activities comply with mine safety regulations and company policies.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate clearly with crane operators and ground personnel using hand signals, radios, or other communication tools to ensure smooth and safe rigging operations.
- Work with the safety team to assess risks and implement best practices for lifting and rigging in challenging environments.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of rigging activities, including load calculations, equipment inspections, and rigging gear maintenance.
- Report any incidents or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor and assist in incident investigations as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certification as a Rigger or relevant trade qualification.
- Proven experience in rigging within a mining or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of rigging and lifting techniques, including load calculations and the use of rigging equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in mining or heavy industrial settings.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly with crane operators and ground personnel.
- Must be a member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
