Our client in Zimbabwe is looking for an experienced and mature Underground Mining Manager to
join their team for a job vacancy within the Mining Industry.
The mining department aims to efficiently and effectively execute the mine plan developed by the technical services department while prioritizing safety, optimizing production, and managing costs.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure all mining activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and ore extraction, are conducted in accordance with safety standards and the mine’s operational plan.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the safety and efficiency of mining operations.
- Coordinate with the Technical Services Department to ensure the technical feasibility of the mining plan.
- Update the mining plan as necessary based on performance reviews, geological data, and other relevant factors, with the Technical Services Department.
- Regularly measure the performance of mining operations against the mining plan.
- Continuously review and optimize mining processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Incorporate process improvements into the mining plan.
- Efficiently managing the mining team by providing clear direction, guidance, and support, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting continuous learning and development.
- Assessing the training needs of the mining team, organizing relevant training programs, workshops, or seminars to enhance their skills, knowledge, and understanding of best practices.
- Evaluating the team’s performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, cost, and production targets, and implementing actions to address performance gaps and enhance overall performance.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Mining Engineering.
- Five (5) O’ levels including English, Maths and Science
- Valid Full Blasting licence
- 5 years underground experience as Underground Mining Manager in gold mining.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
- Knowledge of SHEQ systems.
- Familiar with mine planning and grade control systems.
