Our client in Kenya in the Quick Service Restaurant industry is recruiting for a Head of Information Technology. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and supervising the organization’s technical operations which includes overseeing IT department employees and ensuring all technology systems and applications, support the organization’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in IT service delivery. The candidate must also have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, IT management, Computer Science or a related field.

Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure Management
- Management of networks, software and hardware. Ensure all systems are up to date and functioning correctly.
- Trouble shoot both hardware, software and network infrastructure
- Ensure routine maintenance on all computers and computer related equipment
- Design the network and its implementation
- Administration of servers, network management and monitoring branch network (WAN, LAN, BROADBAND).
- Installation and deployment of system and application software for the company
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of information systems and electronic data processing
Information Security
- Ensure company’s sensitive information is secure and protected from unauthorized access, theft and cyber attacks.
- Create and enforce security policies and procedures as well as implement security measures.
- Ensure security procedures are implemented – only authorized staff receive fool proof passwords, change password whenever there is need.
- Input and maintain IP addresses
- Ensure installation and effective servicing of phones, computers with all the computer peripherals active before signing any document from suppliers
- Ensure general cleanliness of all computer equipment
- Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal
Project Management
- Oversee IT projects from start to finish, ensure they are completed on time within budget and to company’s satisfaction.
- Define project goals, create project plans, allocate resources and monitor progress
- Ensure new operation plans, policies, procedures and transition/migration plans are consistent with the overall IT goals and objectives
- Oversee implementation of new projects o systems -SAGE PASTEL, EVOLUTION, GAAP, POS systems
Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with vendors and contractors who provide IT services to the company.
- Supervise IT vendors and service providers while ensuring cost benefit analysis
- Negotiate contracts, manage service level agreements and monitor vendor performance
Business Continuity Planning
- Develop and implement business continuity plans to ensure that IT systems can quickly recover from disasters and disruptions.
- Implement sound business continuity/ disaster recovery strategies for the company
Innovation
- Constantly explore new technologies and trends to improve the company’s IT capabilities and gain competitive edge.
- Research and implement emerging technologies and identify areas where technology can drive business growth
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for electronic data processing and computer systems operations and development.
Budget Management
- Manage IT department budget – forecasting costs, creating budgets, tracking expenses to ensure the department within budget.
- In liaison with Finance Director, prepare the IT budget by reviewing and evaluating all the brand requests on the proposed budget.
- Forecast short term and long-term operational requirements and obligations inorder to maintain adequate smooth running of the systems
- Report to the Finance Director the status of the systems budget expenditures, recommend adjustments as necessary on monthly or quarterly basis
- Assist in budget preparation of new site opening
- Discuss with respective managers the system requirements, specifications, costs and implementation timelines
- Ensure repairs of the office automated equipment is carried out in a cost effective manner
Team Leadership
- Lead in interpretation, implementation and review of all the systems and operation systems.
- Ensure all operators at management level and other section heads are regularly informed of the changes and follow through on changes in the systems.
- Maintain favourable working relationship with staff, free from discrimination and harassment
- Ensure IT staff are competent in knowledge, skills and attitude to perform their assigned tasks
- Recommend training and education programs for employees who fall below the required skill levels
IT Inventory Management
- Ensure complex equipment taken for repair is recorded, signed by the manager incharge of the complex; serial numbers should also be recorded
- Maintain and monitor IT inventory
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in Information Technology, IT Management, Computer Science, or similar.
- Experience in infrastructure and applications
- Data warehousing, architecture, and networking
- Knowledge of clour platforms and technologies
- A minimum of 5 years of IT service delivery experience
- Experience with business operations platforms
