Our client in Kenya in the oil and gas industry in currently recruiting for a Regional Manager for the Kenyan coast. The candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling fuel products to commercial clients, including businesses in the transportation, industrial, and manufacturing sectors. The role involves generating new business, maintaining relationships with existing clients, and ensuring sales targets are achieved.  This is a field-based role with regular travel within the assigned area to meet with commercial clients. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required depending on client needs. Previous experience in oil and gas in the Kenyan market is required. The candidate must already be authorized to work in Kenya.

Responsibilities

  • Sales and Business Development
    • Identify and acquire new commercial customers for fuel products such as diesel, petrol, and other commercial fuels.
    • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive growth and achieve sales targets in the assigned area.
    • Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential commercial clients, highlighting the benefits of the company’s fuel solutions.
    • Negotiate and secure supply agreements with new and existing customers to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Customer Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial clients to understand their fuel requirements and provide tailored solutions.
    • Ensure prompt response to customer inquiries and resolution of any service or product-related issues.
    • Conduct regular visits to customer sites to monitor service delivery, assess fuel consumption needs, and provide technical guidance where needed.
  • Sales Planning and Territory Management
    • Develop a sales plan for the assigned area in collaboration with the Commercial Sales Manager, focusing on business growth and market penetration.
    • Monitor and report on sales performance, adjusting strategies as needed to meet or exceed sales targets.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities for expanding fuel sales in emerging markets or under-served sectors within the area.
  • Market Intelligence and Reporting
    • Conduct market research to stay informed on competitor activities, customer preferences, and industry trends.
    • Gather and analyze data on fuel consumption patterns, customer satisfaction, and market conditions, and provide regular reports to the Commercial Sales Manager.
    • Keep updated on pricing trends, fuel regulations, and any changes that may impact the commercial fuel market.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure that all fuel sales activities comply with relevant industry regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
    • Educate customers on the safe storage, handling, and usage of fuel products in their operations.
  • Collaboration
    • Collaborate with internal teams including logistics, technical support, and customer service to ensure timely delivery and high-quality service to commercial clients.
    • Work closely with the Commercial Sales Manager to align area sales strategies with overall business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of sales experience, preferably in commercial fuels or related industries such as energy or industrial products.
  • Understanding of commercial fuels, fuel pricing dynamics, and storage/handling procedures is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets in a commercial environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with commercial clients.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills to secure favorable terms for both the company and the client.
  • Ability to analyze market data and sales performance to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects across a large geographic area.
