Key Responsibilities:
Student Learning Environment
- Contribute to the improvement of the student learning environment by ensuring it supports academic success, safety, and well-being.
- Gather feedback from students, faculty, and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
- Work with relevant teams to address issues related to accommodation, transport, security, and overall student support.
Clinical Simulation & Teaching Methods
- Support the design, implementation, and enhancement of clinical simulation training programs to provide students with realistic and hands-on learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and adopt innovative teaching methods and technologies that improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical simulation exercises and suggest improvements to strengthen their impact.
Supportive Supervision & Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
- Support the Systems Strengthening Manager in the Implementation of supportive supervision mechanisms to provide guidance, feedback, and ongoing support to faculty and students in clinical settings.
- Support the continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure the effectiveness and quality of teaching, student learning, and clinical practice.
- Help evaluate the impact of CQI efforts and recommend changes to improve training outcomes and healthcare delivery.
eLearning & Digital Transformation
- Support the integration of eLearning tools and digital platforms into the nurse and midwifery education framework.
- Support the development and rollout of online courses, digital content, and virtual learning environments to enhance the learning experience.
- Work closely with IT teams and stakeholders to ensure the scalability and accessibility of eLearning initiatives.
Workshops & Faculty Capacity Building
- Support the design, organization and facilitation of workshops to strengthen the capacity of faculty members, ensuring alignment with best practices in nurse and midwifery education.
- Support the training to enhance faculty’s understanding of new teaching strategies, curriculum, and pedagogical methods.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among faculty and staff to ensure a high standard of educational delivery.
Project Finance & Administration
- Support the Systems Strengthening Manager in overseeing the financial planning, budgeting, and administration of decentralized health training programs ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Monitor and report on the allocation and utilization of funds in alignment with organizational and donor requirements.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and ensure transparent reporting practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure proper financial management and resource optimization.
Logistics & Operations
- Support the Systems Strengthening Manager in coordinating the delivery of all project activities.
- Ensure smooth and effective operations at all project sites at provincial, district, and decentralized facilities.
- Support the planning and execution of implementation schedules and operational activities, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
Foster Strong Partnerships
- Ensuring internal as well as external trust, collaboration and representation.
- Maintain strong relationships with local operating partners, not least Provincial and District level health teams, the Provincial Health Directors, MoH nationally, NMCZ, and the college leadership teams.
Monitor, Evaluate, Research, Learn and Advocate
- Support the Systems Strengthening Manager and the MERLA unit to create systems and procedures for effective monitoring and evaluation with the aim of generating simple, accurate and high-quality, routine performance reports.
Support Organisational Culture
- Actively participate as a team member in the organisation’s direction in Zambia.
- Role model good leadership, communication and management behaviours, support the development of the organisation and its culture.
- Maintain strong working relationships with the other projects and programmes
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Education
A bachelor’s degree in nursing and or Midwifery, Public Health, or a related field is required
A master’s degree in public health or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience
At least five years’ experience in nursing education and health systems strengthening, with a focus on education, decentralization, and capacity building.
Skills:
- Strong project management, financial oversight, and operational skills.
- Expertise in faculty development and training.
- Experience in implementing eLearning tools and digital technologies in education a bonus.
- Proficiency in clinical simulation, teaching methods, and student engagement strategies.
- Ability to coordinate logistics and manage resources effectively across multiple regions.
- Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives and supportive supervision frameworks.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
