Position: Product Manager

Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

Client Description – Our client is leading distributor and physical trader of petroleum products
across East and Central Africa.

Role description – The Product Manager is responsible for leading innovation in LPG and
petroleum products within our Commercial Fuels segment. This role focuses on developing
cutting-edge IoT solutions to enhance product efficiency, safety, and customer experience. The
ideal candidate will manage the product lifecycle, identify new opportunities, and collaborate
with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven, industry-leading solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the product roadmap for LPG and petroleum
    product lines, with a focus on integrating IoT solutions to improve product efficiency,
    safety, and performance.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends and
    technologies in the LPG, petroleum, and IoT space.
  • Develop business cases and define product requirements, balancing market needs,
    customer demands, and technological capabilities.
  • Drive the development of innovative IoT-enabled products and solutions that enhance
    the usability, performance, and safety of LPG and petroleum products.
  • Work closely with Commercial and IT engineering teams to design and implement IoT
    features such as remote monitoring, predictive analytics, leak detection, and real-time
    data collection.
  • Ensure the integration of IoT platforms, sensors, and connectivity standards to deliver
    seamless customer experiences and actionable insights.
  • Manage the complete product lifecycle, from ideation and prototype development to
    product launch and post-launch optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of products that meet
    quality, cost, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee product performance and make recommendations for continuous
    improvements, enhancements, and new features.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and identify new opportunities to innovate with IoT
    technologies and digital solutions for the LPG and petroleum sectors.
  • Apply creative problem-solving skills to address key challenges within the LPG and
    petroleum industries, including safety, efficiency, regulatory compliance, and
    sustainability.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including
    customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Gather feedback from customers and end-users to drive product improvements and
    enhancements.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop go-to-market strategies and
    customer engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure products are compliant with industry regulations, standards, and safety
    protocols.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Energy Management, or a related
    field.
  • Project/Product Management Certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in product management, preferably in the LPG,
    petroleum, or energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of LPG and petroleum product lines, including operational safety,
    regulatory requirements, and market trends

Skills and Expertise

  • Excellent product management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams
    and managing the product development process from start to finish.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on customer-centric innovation.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with product management tools (Jira, Trello, Aha, etc.) and agile
    methodologies.
  • Knowledge of energy industry regulations and compliance standards, including safety
    protocols related to LPG and petroleum.
