Our client in Harare is looking for a creative and experienced Commercial Master Baker to join their team for a job vacancy within the FMCG industry.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Supervising a team of bakers, assigning tasks, and ensuring efficient production flow.
  • Planning and scheduling baking operations to meet customer demand and production deadlines.
  • Monitoring quality control throughout the baking process, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes.
  • Developing new recipes and product variations based on market trends and customer feedback.
  • Deep understanding of different doughs, batters, and baking techniques for a wide variety of baked goods (bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, etc.).
  • Troubleshooting baking issues and adjusting recipes as needed.
  • Managing inventory of baking ingredients, ensuring proper storage and rotation to maintain freshness.
  • Ordering supplies and managing costs to optimize profitability
  • Training new bakers on proper techniques, recipes, and safety procedures.
  • Coaching and mentoring bakers to improve their skills and knowledge
  • Implementing and maintaining strict hygiene and sanitation standards in the bakery
  • Regularly inspecting baked goods for appearance, texture, and taste to ensure quality

 

Requirements:

 

  • Extensive Baking Experience: Several years of professional baking experience, ideally in a variety of settings (artisan bakery, commercial bakery, pastry shop)
  • Advanced Baking Skills: Mastery of various baking techniques
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of bakers
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to baking processes and quality control
  • Creativity and Innovation: Willingness to experiment with new flavours, recipes, and presentation techniques
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and consistency
