Our client in Harare is looking for a proactive and well-spoken IT Systems Support Manager to join their team for a job vacancy within the Construction industry.
The IT Systems Support Manager will lead the IT support function, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of all IT systems that support business operations. This role will manage the day-to-day IT support services, oversee systems administration, and work closely with various departments to provide strategic IT solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage a high-demand support environment in a project-driven industry

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and oversee all IT support services to ensure seamless operation of the company’s IT systems, including hardware, software, and networks.
- Lead a team of IT support staff in providing technical assistance to end-users across multiple departments (project sites, head office, etc.).
- Administer and maintain core IT systems, including servers, network infrastructure, databases, ERP systems, and project management platforms.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and backup protocols are maintained across all systems.
- Collaborate with the software development team (including Systems Development Analysts) to implement and support custom-built applications and tools used in civil works operations.
- Analyse business processes and propose IT solutions that enhance productivity, efficiency, and data management in project execution and office administration.
- Plan and manage IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and hardware deployments.
- Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with best practices and company objectives.
- Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for complex IT issues escalated from the support team.
- Conduct regular training and workshops to improve staff IT literacy and system adoption, including multilingual training where necessary.
- Maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors, service providers, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of services and support.
- Monitor IT budgets, manage procurement of hardware and software, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Stay current with technological advancements and make recommendations for the adoption of new tools that enhance the company’s IT infrastructure
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT support and systems management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven experience managing IT systems and support in a project-driven environment (civil works or construction industry experience is highly advantageous).
- Strong technical knowledge in server administration, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and database management.
- Hands-on experience with software and programming languages such as C#, Visual Basic, PHP, and MySQL is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, project management software, and construction-related IT tools.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to guide and mentor IT support staff.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of providing support to non-technical users in a clear and patient manner.
- Multilingual communication abilities are a plus, particularly for facilitating training across diverse teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
