Our client in Harare is looking for an experienced and confident Bakery Production Manager to join their team for a job vacancy within the Food Manufacturing industry.

 

The Bakery Production Manager will oversee daily operations of the bakery production line, ensuring the efficient manufacturing of bread and baked goods while maintaining quality, food safety, and productivity standards. This role requires strong leadership to manage production teams, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all bakery production activities to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Supervise the production team, including bakers, machine operators, and packers, ensuring optimal staff allocation and productivity.
  • Oversee the production of various bread types and baked goods, maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and hygiene.
  • Implement and monitor food safety and quality control standards in line with HACCP and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure production equipment is properly maintained, working closely with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
  • Manage raw material inventory, ensuring timely ordering and proper storage to avoid shortages or wastage.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and improving product quality.
  • Monitor key production metrics (yields, waste, efficiency) and produce regular reports for management.
  • Train, mentor, and develop the skills of the production team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety.
  • Enforce strict adherence to health and safety policies and procedures within the production area.
  • Liaise with the sales and logistics departments to coordinate production schedules and ensure timely delivery to customers.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Diploma/Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Production Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a bakery production management role in a high-volume, wholesale bakery environment.
  • Strong knowledge of baking processes, techniques, and equipment used in bread and baked goods manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate production teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office; experience with production management software is an advantage.
