Our client in Zimbabwe is looking for a Senior Geologist to join their team for a job vacancy within the Mining industry.

 

Our client, a leading gold mining operation, is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Geologist to join their team. This is a senior-level position ideal for a geologist with a solid background in open-pit mining and resource development who is ready to take on a leadership role.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Oversee and manage RC (Reverse Circulation) and diamond drilling programs, ensuring quality control and adherence to safety and production targets.
  • Conduct geological interpretations and contribute to resource and grade control (GC) modelling.
  • Utilize geological software-preferably Vulcan or similar tools like Surpac-for modelling, data analysis, and mine planning support.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of geological technicians, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and development.
  • Coordinate with mine planning and operations teams to align geological insights with production goals.
  • Prepare technical reports, resource estimations, and support decision-making with robust geological data.
  • Maintain accurate and timely geological databases and ensure compliance with reporting standards.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (a postgraduate qualification is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mining geology, with a focus on open-pit gold operations.
  • Proven experience managing both RC and diamond drilling programs.
  • Competency in resource or grade control modelling with the use of geological software (Vulcan preferred, Surpac acceptable).
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of geo-technicians.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
