JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and visionary Head of Insurance to lead our insurance division focusing primarily on insurance products. This executive role requires deep industry expertise, a strong regulatory understanding, and a passion for innovation and customer-centric policy design. The successful candidate will oversee underwriting, claims, product development, risk management, compliance, and partnerships with reinsurers and intermediaries. They will be responsible for ensuring the business is profitable, compliant, and positioned for growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the overall insurance strategy, aligned with company objectives and market trends.
- Lead cross-functional teams including underwriting, claims, actuarial, customer service, and product development.
- Set clear performance goals and manage KPIs across all insurance operations.
- Product Development & Management
- Design, enhance, and manage insurance products tailored to the needs of our target market.
- Work with actuarial and marketing teams to ensure products are both competitive and profitable.
- Introduce new product features and add-ons to increase customer value and retention.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant insurance regulations, laws, and licensing requirements.
- Lead internal audits, regulatory reporting, and interactions with regulatory authorities.
- Oversee risk assessment practices, reinsurance strategies, and fraud prevention mechanisms.
- Operational Oversight
- Supervise the end-to-end policy lifecycle from underwriting to claims settlement.
- Implement best practices in claims handling to ensure fairness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Continuously improve operational efficiency through technology and process innovation.
- Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Collaborate with reinsurers, brokers, agents, insurance service providers, and technology partners.
- Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory discussions.
- Financial Oversight
- Develop annual budgets for the insurance division and monitor performance against targets.
- Analyze loss ratios, expense ratios, claims trends, and profitability metrics.
- Support pricing strategy in coordination with finance and actuarial teams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, or actuarial science
- Professional certifications such as IIZA, or similar are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in underwriting, claims management, and actuarial collaboration.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
