Our client in Malawi is looking for a Workshops Manager to join their team in the Agriculture Industry.

Reporting to: the Farm Manager and the Managing Director

Responsibilities:
All machinery servicing and maintenance the farm.
Land preparation and mechanised farm operations including crops and fodder harvesting

Objective
To manage a workshop that will cater for all servicing and management of the estate fleet of tractors cars and agricultural equipment. To plan and execute all mechanised farm operations including land preparation, planting, irrigation and harvesting of crops and cattle.
The estate is currently growing its operations and will require somebody with sound mechanical knowledge particularly of tractors, irrigation pivots and agricultural machinery. The applicant must also have the ability to manage a fleet management program and control fuel and oil usage. The applicant must also be a competent department manager, planner and workshops administrator.

The estate equipment includes:
A fleet of 16 MF and Landini tractors.
Sprayers, planters and an assortment of cultivating and harvesting equipment.
Irrigation, 600 ha of pivots.
Gensets to provide backup electricity.

Resources include:
· 3,000 ha low veld grazing
· 600 ha maize / dry bean crop residue
· Ample water for irrigation of fodder crops 12 months of the year
· Fully kitted arable farm
· Housing on Farm
· Suitable vehicle will be provided
· Internet
· Cellular network

Relevant qualifications:
• Formal Diploma / Degree in Mechanical engineering of related relevant field
• Work experience
• Strong references essential
• Ability to cope well in quiet and remote location

Relevant Skills:

• Strong planning skills
• Strong admin skills
• Good grasp of MS Office, especially Excel
• Management skills

Salary will be dependent on qualifications.

Please note: The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Malawi.
